Getting around.

Taxis.
You are never far from a taxi in Cancún, they are everywhere! When out walking you will hear their horns beep as they approach you, and it is just a matter of waving your arm to stop one, you will also find them outside the many shopping plazas and food outlets, alternatively you can ask your hotel to call one for you. Prices are very reasonable and most destinations have preset fares, make sure you agree on the price with the driver before your journey!
 

Buses.
Cancún has a very reliable bus service that runs 24 hours a day, the fare is the same no matter how far you travel within the Cancún area, during my stay the cost of a single ticket was just 6 pesos. The 3 main buses operating in this area are numbered; R1, R2 & R15. All of these operate in the hotel zone and they all stop at Avenue Tulum, which is the main street separating downtown and the hotel zone. The R15 will take you further into the down town area as well as stopping at the large Wal-Mart store. Don't worry if you miss one as they run every 2 minutes!
